Julie Anne Thornton

Julie Anne Thornton, of Red Lodge, passed away peacefully in her sleep at home in Red Lodge on January 11, 2005. The cause of death was cardiopulmonary arrest due to complications of Downs Syndrome. Julie was born May 21, 1957 in Wolf Point, Montana. She was the third child and daughter of Mary Anne and L. C. (Buddy) Thornton. Julie lived at the Cooper Group Home In Red Lodge and spent time at the Beartooth Industries, a sheltered workshop. Julie had a very friendly and loving nature. She loved babies and baby dolls and most always carried a doll. Julie developed close friendships at the Cooper Home, and at work and in the community, and with co-workers, and caregivers. Julie is survived by her parents and three sisters and one brother, Nell Thornton Liao, Nancy Thornton, Bonny Thornton Liebel and Peter Thornton. Julie was preceded in death by her grandparents Peter and Mary Dolezilek, and Otis and Nell Thornton. Smith Olcott Funeral Chapel of Red Lodge assisted with the arrangements. Graveside services will be held in the Poplar Cemetery at a later date. A Memorial Mass was held in Poplar on January 25th with Rev. Fr Michael Schneider officiating. Julie's family and friends appreciate the loving care that Julie received during her life in Red Lodge. Julie we know that though your earthly body was challenged with complications of Downs Syndrome and we know that God always creates a beautiful and perfect soul. Julie you are a beautiful soul in the presence of our Heavenly Father.
