GLENN JEROME JOHNSON

Glenn Jerome Johnson, age 59, of East Sound, WA, and Billings, formerly of Brockton, passed away March 20, 2005 from a heart attack and complications of diabetes. Glenn was born in Williston, ND on Sunday, August 5, 1045 to Theodore and Florence Johnson from Brockton, where he grew up. On August 17, 1965 he and Louise Pemberton were wed in Plant City, FL. They lived in various places where Glenn was always able to find employment as a cook. He was a great cook! In 1968 they took over the operation of the family farm north of Brockton. While living on the farm they were active in the Poplar Nazarene Church for a short time. For years they served at First Baptist Church in Poplar in varied positions and held services in the Baptist Church in Brockton for approximately two years and several times when the minister from Poplar could not come due to weather. Glenn moved to Billings in 1978 to find employment and housing for his family. The family joined him in September 1980 after the farm business was phased and leased out. From 1983 to 1986 Glenn and Louise owned and operated Little J’s Café in Billings. They leased out the café for two years and then sold it. Glenn cooked at many food businesses in MT, ND, and FL, including the Billings Petroleum Club and Giovanni’s in the Northern Hotel and many years at Rocky Mountain College. He retired from cooking when arthritis prevented his holding a spatula for long periods of time. One of Glenn’s dreams was to graduate from college. He received an AA from UND-Williston in 1972. He received a BS with a major in history, minors in political science and special education and psychology from Rocky Mountain College in 1993. He continued working toward a BA in Special Education at MSU-B, but he had to quit because of disabilities and other reasons. In 1999 Glenn went to Orcas Island off the coast of Washington to help our son get land and build a home. He fell in love with the island and its people. When the land was cleared he began to raise different breeds of chickens. He loved chickens! Louise had to stay in Billings due to respiratory difficulties in the high humidity. There were many trips made between MT and WA. He loved to help others. On Orcas he became involved in many peoples live and with the Odd Fellows. Glenn was preceded in death by his parents, two infant sisters, and our first-born son, Eddie. He is survived by his wife, Louise of Billings; his son, David (Alana) and children Kai, Osirus, and Rhianon of East sound, WA on Orcas Island; his daughter, Lorene (John) Horton and Johnny of Laurel; his brother Orlin (Pat) of Sun City, AZ and Eldon, Ellen and Jeanne and their facilities, all of AZ. He also leaves behind a special friend, Jim Allan, who he was a caregiver for, and Jim’s on, Ian. Also surviving are some aunts, uncles and many cousins. His family and many friends will miss Glenn. We will see you in heaven, Honey. Glenn will be remembered in three services. The first will be on Orcas at Eagles Rock Church on Saturday, March 26 at 2 pm. The second will be at the site of inurnment in Riverview Cemetery in Brockton at 10:30 am on Friday, April 1. The third and final one will be in Billings at New hope Baptist Church on Monday, April 4 at 11 am. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be given to the Odd Fellows, Diabetes and Heart Associations.
