Gilda M.
Stephens, age 79, of Poplar, passed away of age related natural causes on March
2, 2005 at Faith Lutheran Home in Wolf Point. She was born October 17, 1925 to
Bill and Addie Hovermale Sanders in Shelbyville, IN. Gilda graduated from New
Palestine High School in Indiana and later received an associate’s degree from
Fort Peck Community College. She received her CHR in Rapid City, SD, optometry
training in Albuquerque, NM, and dental assistant degree in Indianapolis, IN.
She worked as a teacher’s aide in Poplar for a time and for Ft. Peck Mercantile
for seven years. Gilda enjoyed arts and crafts and made many various crafts over
the years. She also enjoyed reading, playing cards, and most of all being with
her family, friends, and grandkids. Gilda is survived by three sons, Morgan
Hendrickson of Shelbyville, IN, and Greg and Kevin Hendrickson, both of Poplar;
two adopted daughters, Leah Feather of Wolf Point and Billie Jo Ogle of Poplar;
a brother George Sanders and sister Iola Hibl, both of Poplar. Numerous
grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive her. She was
preceded in death by her parents, a sister Patricia Holen, and husband Arthur
James Hendrickson. Visitation will be held from 3 to 7 pm on Monday, March 7,
2005. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 8 at 10 am, both at the
Assembly of God Church in Poplar. Interment will be in Poplar City Cemetery.
