Gary Gene Youpee

Gary Gene Youpee, 55, died March 14, 2005 at his home due to health complications. Gary was born Dec. 4, 1949, in Poplar to Jim and Jeanette (Cloud) Youpee. He resided all of his life in Brockton, attending and graduating from Brockton High School in 1969. After High school, Gary entered in the U.S. Army, serving a year in the Vietnam war, where he was awarded various medals, including a bronze star. He was honorably discharged in 1973. After the army, Gary attended Northern Montana College in Havre. He returned to Brockton, where he became employed with the Bureau of Indian Affairs as a police officer. After leaving the bureau, Gary worked various places, including A&S Tribal Industries, Police dispatcher, Brockton Youth Coordinator, and with the Vocational-Rehab program. In his free time, Gary loved to play bingo and poker machines, watching movies, and he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren. Gary is survived by his father Jim Youpee of Brockton, a special nephew Ira (Olivia) Track, Jr. of Brockton, who he took as a son; five brothers, Russell, Joe and Sheldon (Illenda) of Poplar, and Robert (Luanna) Sr. of Brockton and Ernie Yuzicapi of Minot N.D.; six sisters, Dolly (Wayne) Boyd, Sharon Red Thunder, Millie (Marion) Runs Through of Poplar, Linda RedBoy, Kate Youpee, and Jamie Youpee, all of Brockton. He is also survived by a special grandson, Baily Track of Brockton; and a special niece, Millie (Marly Love) Runs Through of Poplar; plus numerous nieces, nephews, and grandchildren. Gary was preceded in death by his grandparents, Moses and Rebecca Cloud and Frank Youpee and Helen Brushhorn; his mother Jeanette; a sister; two brothers; a niece; a nephew; and a granddaughter. Visitation was held Sunday March 20, at Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel in Wolf Point. Funeral services were Monday, March 21, at the Brockton Cultural Center. Inurnment was held at the Riverview Cemetery in Brockton.
